FAQ

How long will it take to build my custom home?
The time is based on the size and your interior and exterior desire details and of course, weather delays.  The typical timeframe to build is approximately 10 months.

Do I get in writing the cost of my home and what the specifications are?
We can either do a fixed contract, cost plus, or a fixed fee contract.  You will be given a list of materials that will be used in your home showing all specifications that are included in your contract price.

What size homes do you build?
We have built custom homes from 2,400 square feet up to 8,500 square feet.  This would depend on your needs and budget.  We can build anything from a full walk out basement to first floor master bedrooms.  Anything you are desiring in a custom built home, we can deliver.

Do you use the same quality of standards depending on home size?
We use the same quality materials as well as subcontractors whether you are building a large custom home or a remodeling of your existing home.

Do you have allowances?
We give our clients written allowances for certain items they will be selecting, such as cabinets, lighting fixtures, plumbing, tile, and flooring.

Can I make changes during the construction process?
Changes may be requested at certain stages of construction.  At that time, we would have a change order written to reflect the proposed change and any adjustments in cost if needed.

If I do not live locally, how many times should I visit during construction?
During the construction process, we usually recommend that you visit 3 to 4 times during the different phases.  Our office coordinates with you when it is best to come to get the most out of your trip.

Who supplies your plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, etc…?
We have a list of suppliers and subcontractors that we recommend to you that our company has worked with for years.  In this way, we can insure you are getting the best quality material available as well as workmanship.

Do you have your own crews or do you subcontract your work out?
The builder himself supervises all job sites on a daily basis to make sure everything is running smoothly.  Along with his supporting staff, our company has its own trim crew.

What is the architectural review process?
Certain communities have a specified requirement for each development in the Williamsburg area.  While the process varies from community to community, it usually involves your final plans and specifications of the exterior of the home.  From our experience with developments in the area, we are able to take care of this for our clients.

Do you build with Green Technology?
The engineer that we use in our design work is Green Certified and can incorporate any of the Green Technologies into the design.
